Remembering Our Deceased
Rest In Peace
Eternal rest grand unto them,
O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them.
May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Amen.
Fr Paddy Quigley
1921–2005
Patrick Hugh Joseph was born on the 22nd of September, 1921 in Buncrana, Co. Donegal. He received his primary education at the local Convent School and at St. Columba’s Boys’ School from 1923 to 1935. For his secondary education, he went to the Salesian Missionary College, Shrigley Park, England for the years 1935 to 1940. In 1941 he began his Spiritual Year in Kiltegan and was ordained at Easter, 1949. He spent two years on the staff and was then appointed to Calabar Diocese. He ministered there from 1951 to 1965. In that year, he was recalled to teach in our house in Buchlyvie where he remained until 1967. In that year, he joined the Promotion team in the U.S.A. in what was to be a long-term appointment. Paddy could be said to be synonymous with Promotion in that country. Stationed in all three Society houses in the U.S.A., he traversed large areas of the country and made our Society known to countless people.
His appointment continued until 1993, when he returned to Kiltegan. There he worked in the office and was a wonderful contact with our supporters in Ireland. At Easter, 2005 Paddy’s health began to deteriorate. He died on the 6th of July, 2005.
